SEARCH AND AI DISCOVERY

Make your real expertise easier to understand.

AI search adds another way for people to research a home-service problem or compare providers. It does not remove the need for a useful, accessible website. Start by making your services, coverage, and business identity clear. Then review technical access and the evidence behind your content, recognizing that no agency controls whether an AI system mentions or recommends your business.

Check the foundation before adding new files

Review whether important pages can be discovered through ordinary links, load successfully, and expose their useful content without requiring a visitor to complete an interaction. Check indexation controls, canonical URLs, and accidental blocks before assuming the problem is a missing AI feature. A private staging site should remain protected until launch; a public service page needs settings appropriate to its intended visibility. Structured data should describe visible, accurate information using a suitable type. Neither schema nor an llms.txt file creates a guarantee of inclusion. Have technical changes reviewed in context so an attempted visibility improvement does not expose private pages or break the site.

Answer the questions your office already hears

Use real customer questions to identify information gaps. A homeowner researching a noisy garage door may need to understand the types of problems your technicians inspect and how to request help. Someone comparing roof replacement estimates may need a clear explanation of your actual assessment process. Write direct answers supported by business-approved knowledge, and explain where an on-site assessment is necessary. Avoid presenting generic instructions as a diagnosis or encouraging unsafe repair attempts. Credit a real reviewer only when that person has reviewed the material and approved the attribution. Helpful detail should come from your operations, rather than invented experience or repeated summaries of competing pages.

Keep business facts consistent and verifiable

Check the business name, contact details, services, and coverage across your website and profiles you control. Describe a service-area operation accurately instead of suggesting a storefront where customers cannot visit. Credentials, affiliations, and guarantees need current supporting evidence and approved wording. Remove obsolete offers and availability claims when operations change. Where you share project examples, explain what was done and obtain permission for customer details or images. Consistency helps people evaluate your business regardless of the interface they use to discover it. It also reduces the chance that your own outdated pages become the source of conflicting information about how to contact or hire you.

Monitor discovery without inventing certainty

Record relevant referral traffic and resulting inquiries where your measurement tools expose it. Some discovery paths will remain unclear, and a mention observed in one answer may differ for another person or on another day. If you sample AI responses, document the question, date, and context instead of presenting a screenshot as a universal ranking. Review whether customers reached the appropriate service page and could contact your office successfully. Prioritize improvements that remain useful across search experiences: accurate information, clearer pages, accessible navigation, and a working contact journey. Treat any new visibility as evidence to examine alongside inquiry quality, not as proof of revenue or a promise of future recommendations.
